As many are aware, I am a train buff, or as we’re referred to, railfans. Yesterday, late afternoon, I had the opportunity to “catch” a train. I was on the way to the grocery store and the opportunity presented itself. It was nothing special but it had been a few weeks since I got to do any train watching.
After the train had passed, I noticed a vehicle parked beside mine in the parking lot. As I walked toward it, I noticed it was an older couple, grandparents, and they had their young granddaughter with them. They decided to stop by and show their granddaughter the passing train. We quickly made conversation about trains, the railroad in general, and much about train schedules and so forth.
We spent maybe 10 minutes in conversation and parted ways. Later that evening as I relayed the encounter to my wife, I realized I made conversation with a completely random stranger about trains. Am I able to do the same in speaking about Christ? Or the Bible? Am I as passionate about spiritual things as I am the railroad? Would I be able to spend ten minutes talking to someone I never met before about my personal testimony? Humbling thoughts, for sure.
